How is unemployment going?
It’s 3 AM. Im Laughing to myself because a comment I made on a TikTok about NLE Choppa offering CyberLeaks 50 dollars for a copy of the GTA 6 leaks.
The comment was “if CyberLeaks plays hardball, I’ll throw in a lighter.”
Now, why is this funny, you may ask?
A well-known meme within the fandom of a Japanese manga named “Kagurabachi” goes as follows: “Stupid lame-ass frogface bitch… we killed your dad for fifty bucks and a lighter.” This meme is particularly significant based on the fact that Kagurabachi has had odd success pre-dating the first chapter ever coming out.
When Kagurabachi was first announced, it was met with subtle praise. Fans often said, “enough time has passed, Kagurabachi > [insert critically acclaimed anime].” Now, with 0 chapters and only character designs to go off of, how did this happen? How can people think so highly of something that hasn’t even come out yet? It was a joke, obviously.
But what if I told you it wasn’t a joke? And that everyone who had that thought was secretly telling the truth?
Takeru Hokazono, the author of Kagurabachi, never intended to write manga; he was only drawn to it because of anime staples like Naruto, citing it as one of his biggest inspirations. But we’ve seen that story done before. The altruistic protagonist saves the world by overcoming not only their challenges but the challenges of others. Looking at Chihiro Rokuhiro’s (the main character of kagurabachi), he seemed pretty basic, a typical self-insert with moody and edgy characteristics to stay updated on recent anime trends (anime has shifted into a darker, grittier, more impactful nature across the board). ((Everyone is trying to make peak)) This manga didn’t have a lot going for itself, to be honest with you. But the memes surrounding it were just so funny. I think the anime community has been coming up with the funniest jokes online, and Kagurabachi, unfortunately, was on the butt end of it. But when Kagurabachi dropped its first chapter… it was okay. It was pretty simple; it establishes the characters, there’s history between Chihiro and his dad. There seems to be a magic power system.
Ooh, time skip, that’s cool.
Ohh, shit…
(Kills 4 guys)
What the fuck?
(Murders everyone)
The first chapter leaves you thinking this guy is psychotic.
Somewhere before the first chapter released, at the height of the meme, an anonymous user sent a letter to Hokazono saying Kagurabachi saved his life. then by the end of Part 1 of Kagurabachi I realized that person was me and it was my life that had been saved.
